Counterplas Ltd wins prestigious Plastics Industry Award
Counterplas Ltd is celebrating having won a prestigious Plastics Industry Award for the ‘LOFT STILT’/ Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year 2016
The ‘LOFT STILT’ was designed in collaboration with Birmingham Innovations to create a product that would raise the floor height in a loft space to enable the home owner to achieve a maximum insulation thickness of 270mm and maximise their energy saving efficiency whilst still maintaining a useable loft storage area.
The environmental advantages of this product were further maximised by specifying a recycled polymer to benefit the environment.
The product is distributed via major DIY retailers and ticks all the environmental green boxes.
Sports TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith presented the award to Stephen Hall, Operations Director of Counterplas in front of a Great Gatsby-themed audience of over 650 industry professionals at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Friday (30 September).
The judges praises included “A genuine new product addressing a need efficiently and effectively”
The judges also felt that the product was “Innovative and extremely useful”
The hotly contested Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year category had four finalists but the Counterplas ‘Loft Stilt’ entry ticked all the environmental green boxes.
“Winning our 1st ever award was by far the best news our business could have
wished for and is a tribute to the hard work of all of our staff and the loyalty of our customer Birmingham Innovations who have worked closely with us since the initial concept of the ‘Loft Stilt’. The award has created a great buzz and positive feeling of pride throughout the factory and I hope the extra publicity will lead to more sales of the product and awareness of how manufacturing in the Midlands is thriving. Also, a big thank you to Birmingham Innovations www.b-innovations.com for their ongoing support and collaborative approach to new product development. ” said Paul Isherwood Managing Director of Counterplas.
Launched in 2001, and held annually in London, the Plastics Industry Awards are dedicated to rewarding innovation and exceptional performance in an increasingly competitive market. Sixteen categories cover materials usage, product design, manufacturing, training and environmental performance, and entries are judged by a panel of industry experts*.
